Many of these folks have signed the Council for Responsible Genetics’ Safe Seed Pledge:

“Agriculture and seeds provide the basis upon which our lives depend. We must protect this foundation as a safe and genetically stable source for future generations. For the befefit of all farmers, gardeners and consumers who want an alternative.

We pledge that we do not knowingly buy or sell genetically modified seeds or plants.

The mechanical transfer of genetic material outside of natural reproductive methods and between genera, families or kingdoms, poses great biological risks as well as economic, political and cultural threats. We feel that genetically modified varieties have been insufficiently tested prior to public release. More research and testing is necissary to further assess the potential risks of genetically modified seeds. Further, we wish to support agricultural progress that leads to healthier soils, genetically diverse agricultural ecosystems and ultimately healthy people and communities.”

  1. If you really care about GMO seed and buying seed from ethical distribution sources, Seeds of Change should be struck from the list. Seeds of Change is owned by Mars, a company that donated money to defeat Prop 37 in California right alongside Monsanto.

    Proof: http://cal-access.sos.ca.gov/Campaign/Committees/Detail.aspx?id=1344135&session=2011&view=late1

Almost 400k in donations on behalf of Mars. Inc

Stop buying Seeds of Change, stop promoting Seeds of Change as a good ethical seed source – buy from small seed houses, not a front for corporate food!
